FAQ

Why would I need this product?
GAP Cover is a product that covers the difference between your Medical Aid Rate and the private rates charged by any medical practitioner whilst you are an inpatient.

What if my medical aid doesn’t pay for a procedure or if I don’t have a medical aid?

First 100% of the Medical Aid Rate is not covered by Gap Cover even if this is not paid by your Medical Aid.

Are there any excess amounts to pay?
There is only a R500 access payable on the Gap 300 option. No access payable on the Gap 500 option.

What is the cancellation period?
There is a 30 day cancellation period before any debits are stopped on your account.

Are there any waiting periods or exclusions on your cover?
There is a 3 month general waiting period and a minimum of 12 months on pre-existing conditions.

Will my Gap Cover product work with any medical aid?
Yes

What will happen to my Gap Cover product if i change Medical Aids?
No changes will be made to your Gap Cover product, you will just need to notify us of the change.

How long do i have to submit a claim?
You will have 90 days after the date your Medical Aid settled your account.
